The Dark Knight Rises

We knew Christopher Nolan's forthcoming Batman film, The Dark Knight Rises would be the hottest film release of 2012, but we didn't know it would be this hot.  Several IMAX midnight premieres for the third and final installment in the Christopher Nolan Batman trilogy have already sold out… 7 months before the film opens!

Hoping to build on the strong fanboy momentum of the 6-minute-long The Dark Knight Rises IMAX Prologue that previewed before Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, Several IMAX AMC theater owners began selling tickets, via Fandango, to The Dark Knight Rises July 20th premieres. The New York and Los Angeles theaters sold all of their tickets nearly immediately.

Nolan has insisted that the newer 70mm IMAX theaters be given exclusivity to premier the film, so below we provide you with a list (courtesy of screenrant) of the 70mm IMAX screens in the U.S., Canada and UK. If you can, watch it in its intended format. You'll probably get a better experience. But if you aren't so picky about the format, you might have better luck picking up tickets for standard format theaters. But don't be surprised at long lines and sold out theaters when the film hits wide release on July 20th.
