King Fiatus's Reel commentary: I would recommend this movie to anyone who is serious about watching movies, collecting them, or just admiring to unique aspects of each.......full review
by King Fatius American Psycho is one of the most well-done and entertaining movies made during my lifetime. It was not necessarily the ending that made it worth watching; it was everything that occurred in between. It wasn't the Hollywood "movie-formula" big things, but the little specific details.
Contrary to public belief and against cinematic categorization, "American Psycho", although labeled as "Horror" or "Suspense", would be more accurately characterized as a "Dark Comedy". It had an astounding number of comedic elements, and this contrast of comedy rolled inside a suspense worked out very well towards the entertainment factor of the movie as a whole.
I would definitely recommend this movie to anyone who is serious about watching movies, collecting them, or just admiring to unique aspects of each.
Language and Sound: English: Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround
Subtitles: Closed-Captioned.
Extra Features: Harron makes consistently interesting choices in her films; it's a shame she doesn't offer commentary on American Psycho. However, the (light on special features) DVD offers a short interview with Harron, a lengthy chat with Bale in his ripe British accent and a making-of featurette. The film is presented in 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen, with an English audio track in Dolby Digital 5.1.
