The Bourne Identity (2002) Rated: Rated PG-13 for violence and some language. Runtime: 119 mins. Director: Doug Liman Writer: Robert Ludlam (novel); Tony Gilmore (screenplay) Cast: Matt Damon, Frank Potente, Chris Cooper, Clive Owen....complete cast Genre: Action/Thriller
Most memorable quote: "How could I forget about you? You're the only person I know."
Matt Damon stars as Jason Bourne, who suffers from amnesia after an accident and can't remember who he is, or what his life was. Any other descriptions might spoil the plot, which is actually quite simple anyway. The Bourne Identity is an action film - plain and simple. The plot, while simple, is at least intricate enough to keep you interested, and the movie is so fast paced that you feel compelled to watch it intently.
The action scenes in this film are amazing. The martial arts were fascinating enough for me to go back and watch some of the scenes again, simply to think "wow that was really cool."
Matt Damon plays his character well, and the Julia Roberts factor is moderately high because Damon is certainly attractive to the females in the audience. Regarding the macho factor, it couldn’t be higher. It keeps on hitting and hitting from start to finish, and when its over you feel as if you’ve just been on a ride at an amusement park.
With an alternate ending in the DVD, you can choose from sappy, to more sappy - that's all I'll say. I recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys great action sequences, or a fascinating plot. AJ Gonzalez
