Most memorable quote: " Is this it? No, but what if it was and I just really sucked at cheering people up?
OK. I must admit...I watched Crossroads.. But hey! Only because I’m a 17 year-old male and it stars Britney Spears... and the fact that my sister rented it, so it was in the house and I had nothing better to do, but we'll ignore that fact.
Writer Shonda Rhimes actually provides a decent script, I assume because with the film's acting credits, they knew that the emphasis would have to be on the story and film making and not on the acting. Britney Spears stars in this movie as Lucy Wagner, the valedictorian of her high-school class. She has a pathetic boyfriend who, in my high-school, we’d call a "cheese-ball". In the real world we all know that a person as attractive as Britney Spears would have men groveling at her feet, but the film makers failed to consider this fact even if she did have one of those "Back-off" personalities.
After graduation, Lucy and two of her childhood friends, Kit and Mimi embark on a spontaneous cross-country road trip to LA to pursue a record contract audition. With them is another friend, Ben who spurs dark and mysterious rumors about his background.
Britney's father. Pete Wagner, is played by Dan Aykroyd, who, in my opinion, is always annoying, regardless of his role. Regarding the acting in this movie, quite frankly, there is probably better acting in most pornographic videos. I expected Spears' performance to be a lot worse. Not to say it wasn't bad, don't get me wrong. The plot was better than I expected as well, but some of the ways they handled teen issues didn't make logical sense. For instance, like the way she wouldn't have sex with her long-time boyfriend because of her moral standards (one good point of the movie) yet, she meets another guy and after 5 days of friendship they end up…well you know.
