Everyone’s Got One has a great formula to it and it keeps you watching through the entire film.
Everyone’s Got One is an honest and brutal story about a one-man mission to be a successful screenwriter. Garth Donovan plays a dark and far out character who finds a job at a local cinema doing janitorial work. After work he looks forward to relaxing in front of his computer and spends countless hours working on his screenplay. One day, while at work, he wanders into one of the theaters and catches a glimpse of one of the films playing. Without any hesitation he try’s to make an impression on the producer who just happened to be there for the showing. Making his way out of the theater he tries to convince the producer to take a look at his screenplay thinking he could be a connection to something bigger and better.
The film brings to life Garth's darker side and the mounting frustration starts to emerge. Instead of being patient for an answer about his screenplay Garth starts to do weird and unlikable things to the people who are trying to help him. Everyone’s Got One has a multi-level feeling to it and it kind of pulls and tugs at you from all angles. Dave Lewis Co-produced this wonderful look at one man's self-destruction and his determination to be part of society once again.
Everyone’s Got One is a low budget film by the up and coming Maven Productions and I believe this film is their first full-length feature film. Incredibly the film was funded on virtually recycled cans and bottles donated from other people.
Garth Donovan performed, produced, wrote and contributed to this film in probably every aspect of filmmaking. I look forward to seeing future works from Garth Donovan, and Maven Productions.
